SENIOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

Application Deadline: March 1, 2009

If you are at least 65 years old own a home in Florida and receive the regular homestead exemption on that home, and you have an adjusted household income less than $25,873 per year you may qualify for the Senior Homestead .
 

The Senior Homestead Exemption applies county wide to all qualified applicants and the Senior Exemption also applies to seniors in the following municipalities: Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, Pierson, Ponce Inlet and Port Orange, Deltona, Edgewater, Lake Helen, Holly Hill, Orange City, Debary, Oak Hill and South Daytona.
 

Based upon the taxable value of the home, qualified homeowners in the unincorporated area of the County could have savings of approximately $250.00; qualified homeowners living within municipal boundaries could have savings of approximately $150.00 on the County tax, and if residing in one of the above-noted municipalities could see savings of approximately $100.00 on city taxes, except for qualified Oak Hill residents who could see savings of approximately $50.00 on city taxes.

****Actual savings based upon the Senior Homestead Exemption will be calculated on the 2009 Tax Bill which you will receive in November, 2009.****
